Superlative Right
Some people would wonder why I am talking about just men’s position in Mongolian families; because Mongolians life style is differ to Americans. Men have always been a head of the family since the beginning of Mongolian nomadic culture. When someone has born in Mongolia, that person will get their fathers name as their last names. For example: my name last is Chuluunbileg which is my father’s name. Therefore men will undertake the responsibilities for their family. Such as: earn money for food and children’s education, to help to raise the children and the security of their beloved household.
In Mongolia mostly men work for money they needed for their life and other things. Women always do the house work and focus on children. It is almost a rule, but it is never written on paper. So some people argue with men’s superlative rights. They say women should have equal right as men. Forsooth it is hard to change immediately, because abidance of culture. Generally responsibilities followed by rights. But I’m not saying men have all the rights. Every member of household has their own rights and duties. For example: women have right to make and influence to some decisions.
Men doesn’t just work, they also help to raise the children. Usually they give advice and lead their children to their lives. In Mongolia father’s word is a law. Some couples argue about their affection to their children and position in the family. From some point they should have equal rights, but men always leaded. Nowadays world is changing into democratic from old-fashioned ways. So human is in evolution. This is how it has been in Mongolia, and still is. Maybe it is different in western.
Security is very important part of human life. Men in family always worry about their wives and children. In every human thought men is strong and brave. So men always pay attention for security. What women can do about it? They would call the police. But what would they do in situation there is no chance to call the police? They will confide on their husbands. That gives to men more responsibility and more right.
According to Law of human rights “Men and women have equal rights”. They have equal right on everything except family position. This men’s superlative right issue is not only in Mongolia, it is all over the Asia. Women should have same rights as men when they undertake the same responsibilities.
